Your only one Partner for Home & Building Automation System and Indoor Thermal Comfort
Developed by Zigbee Alliance, this is an open-source protocol that allows developers or IoT architects to build mesh networks where signals can jump among devices for communication. The network does not require devices to dial out to a WiFi network before jumping. The entire ecosystem comprises a hub that needs to be perpetually connected to an internet source. Running on radio frequency, Zigbee paves the way for fast communication among devices.
The ZigBee specification describes the infrastructure and services available to Applications running on the ZigBee platform. It specifies a high-level communication protocol that uses low-power digital radio signals based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for the needs of wireless networks (medical devices, smoke and burglar alarms, building automation). The technology is simpler and cheaper than other wireless networks such as Bluetooth.
The most potent ZigBee node contains only 10% of the software in a typical Bluetooth or ordinary wireless network, and the simplest is only 2%.
Zigbee is currently used by Amazon Echo, Philips range of Hue bulbs, and more. One of the major benefits of Zigbee is that one hub can power multiple devices. Besides, it is open-source and simpler to develop compatible devices.
As far as power requirements are concerned, Zigbee is built for low power consumption. So, it ultimately reduces dependence on batteries. Powered by a 128-bit banking-level encryption system, Zigbee is a good choice.
This technology is used mainly for sensor and automation control networks on IEEE 802.15.4 standards for WPAN. The type of communication standards determines the access of the MAC layer to incorporate many devices at low data rates. This technology can be operated at frequencies 868 MHz, 902-928 MHz, and 2.4 GHz, depending upon the application requirement. In contrast, the data rate of 250 Kbps best suits two-way communication between several sensor nodes and controllers. ZigBee is widely used to control several devices within 10–100 m. The communication system is more cost-effective and straightforward to use than any other short-range wireless technology such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Many new construction projects are still being built without proper building technology and planning for the future. Maybe together we can change that.
